Leonardo Placements in Dementia Care in the Netherlands

Following on from a successful first placement visit last year, the second year of placements for care students to Leeuwarden in the Friesland region of the Netherlands commenced on the 13th of April. The placements are due to run for 3 weeks and have been arranged in partnership with the hosts De Plannenmakers who manage local and regional social projects.

Jessica Parkinson and Rebecca Townend (Year 1 students on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care), were selected to represent LMC and were accompanied by their tutor Paul Ineson (See pic below).
They are currently working in Ymedam, Nieuw Mellens Nursing Home, which specialises in dementia care.
These placements are invaluable in allowing students to access a unique working and learning experience in care and a chance to sample life, culture and work in another country
