Leonardo Mobility at LMC

It's the time of year where we prepare our students for lots of work experience projects around Europe. The Sports and Public Services areas dominate the summer project mobility exchanges that are funded by the Leonardo strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission.

late June sees the first activity with four students going to Cadca in Slovakia to lead kids activities for three weeks. The theme of the kids camp varies each week with a new intake of local kids managed by our welcoming host organisation KERIC.

Granville and the students will fly out to Prague and take the train to start this adventure that will test the ingenuity and leadership skills of the students... This project has run several times now and our outcomes and relationship with the hosts KERIC goes from strength to strength...

July is one of the busiest months for LMC for Leonardo Mobility. As the guys out in Slovakia are settling in after their first week, there are three more groups preparing to go abroad to lead outdoor and sports activities for kids in various locations.
Estonia plays host to a group of  four LMC students who, with Barry Robson, will travel to Paide and then onto Valgemetsa Youth Camp (near Tartu) to lead outdoor activities with Estonian youngsters. This is the first time we have done this project with Kontakt International but it's hoped we can sustain the relationship. LMC hosted some football coaches from Estonia earlier in the year and this collaboration is very fruitful for LMC.

There are also two groups of Sports and Public Services students going out to Sunny Beach in Bulgaria to undertake Summer Camp work Experience in July. The group of twelve are divided into two groups each giving three weeks work experience for the learners. The group are guided for the whole period by their tutors and this is the ninth consecutive year of the project.

Thats all for now - JL
